My buddy was visiting from Wisconsin, and as is common in the Badger state, we were looking for a bar to idle in on a Friday afternoon. The Garage On Beck came to mind, because I have always wanted to find out why everyone told me this is a bar I would love. After getting lost amongst the salubrious railroad tracks, warehouses, and strip mining enterprises adding to the wonderment of this neighborhood, I maneuvered my car into the obstacle course the Garage on Beck uses as a parking lot.
The bar looks like a Wisconsin tavern. There's lots of wood and even a boar head on the wall. Rustic tables and a large bar fill the space. A patio with a lovely view of the strip mining plant is available for you nature lovers. Service and drinks were both lovely, but most of the patrons were beer drinking "working class heroes," The tunes were great and live music is commonplace. The Garage on Beck is a real good place to go for a drink. We had a perfect Friday afternoon, with a supplemental end of week buzz. -

I loved this place! I am new in town, I come from a big city (totally different from Utah) and I was really looking for a place were I'd love to go and I just found it. It's nice, chill and with a really good environment, this is the perfect place to go friends and have some beers.
The burger I had was great, can't wait to try more from the menu.
Plus: they are pet friendly. -

I was caught pretty off guard by their parking situation. This place is located by refineries and their parking lot is very small so everyone just parks on the dirt by the bar. But you have to jump the curb to get to the dirt in most parts so we weren't willing to do that in our sedan. Luckily someone was leaving in an area we didn't have to skip the curb to get to.
Then I was also caught off guard by the $5 cash cover. I assume this is only during times where they have a live band.
The atmosphere of the bar is really cool. There's an inside part that is kind of dive-y and the outside part with the live music that is a really great place to sit when the weather is nice. Except when there's a live band that makes it hard to hear the people you're at dinner with. Conversation was much more enjoyable when the band took a break and we didn't have to yell at each other.
Now for the food. It was okay, not great, not bad. I got the fried chicken sandwich with Brussels sprouts. The Brussels sprouts were awesome! The fried chicken was kind of thin in the sandwich, like I had more breading than chicken. I also shared the funeral potatoes with my fiancé. Those were really tasty! And still good cold the next day. And the beer selection was decent. They have these interesting looking frozen drinks (like a pear mule??) that I didn't try but maybe if there's a next time I'll try one.
Overall, cool vibes, but not dying to go back here. I'm new to town so there's definitely a lot of other places I'll have to try before returning! -

I'm not sure how to describe this place... "Upper class dive"? It looks like a hole in the wall but it's very nice and has a beautiful patio area.
The food was phenomenal. Not your typical bar food. Our waitress was great and we were greeted right away. The Mac and cheese is To. Die. For. -

Nice service and friendly staff. The food was okay, we thought it was a little too complicated of a menu for such a bar atmosphere. Drinks were good!
